why did i bother running?

because once upon a time, my dear sister had encouraged me to sign up for the great eastern women's run which she herself had signed up for. spurred on by this sudden burst of motivation to be fit (think to self - begone flabby body, welcome trim and toned!), i registered for the run in the category of 10 km race..... even though there was the 5 km fun run. why? because i only needed to pay SGD 5 more. haha what's the rationale in that? ZILCH.

the race is less than a month away and my goal is just to hit below one hour. i think today jasmine + i ran for 25 mins down the singapore river. by the end, i was panting and she barely shed any sweat. shame on me. haha.

anyhow i have this suspicion that i'm not meant to run. i was using my blue nike sneakers that i haven't used for ages. at the start of the run, jas warned me that the shoes might have been damaged due to excessive storage. true enough - the rubber portions of my shoes broke off while running. only 1 layer of shoelace remained to hold my shoes together. haha.

what's the cost of making inna run?

race registration fee + a new pair of shoes = nearly half of my pocket money.

sigh. please let the scholarship money come soon!

*went for UBS career talk today - i was overwhelmed. by the competition (the whole auditorium was full goodness sake!) and by how much i DON'T KNOW (asset management, equity research, wealth management, investment banking etc. what do people really do? and how do all these things come together?). am really clueless about all those finance things which is ironic because finance is my major. hate it when people look at me in disbelief when i express my confusion and lack of knowledge - i SERIOUSLY don't know what i'm doing! there is the whole world of working my butt off, not having any weekends, getting major breakouts and eyebags for investment banking (i know i know, the prestige and the challenge tempts me) but i'm sure life is more than that. had a very nice catch-up dinner at menotti's - thanks for appreciating my opinions on corporate ladder and the very sweet encouragement even though i know you don't read this. am glad for certain new friends i've made this time round - i think you can show me how to be more grounded in God and His words.

had a very good brunch with hilda at simply bread.
it was an awesome time catching up and as what she said "it's been too long." indeed. shared a lot of things when the sms came in.

and i thought to myself and i think to God as well.
so i said a quick prayer and replied as i made my way to holland v for lunch. i remembered pressing 'send' when i walked across the overhead bridge behind coffee club.

i hurried to meet si mian for lunch at crystal jade. a big hurrah to xiao long baos!
what i didn't expect was you.
especially after the sms i just sent... to you.

i should know better than to be overwhelmed, but i was.

and that's why now i'm running back to my anchor verses.

the hidden feelings

it's one of those times when after reading others' blogs, i have this teeny-weeny bit of wistful thinking to be somewhat like them. be it their lifestyle, their circle of friends.

it reminds me of my past (primary and secondary school to be exact) when i wish i was more like some other person and less like me. learnt a few things along the way before i finally realized that i am what i am and that's the best thing for me.

don't worry about me. i'm not fine - actually no, i'm more than that. :)

my heart gets swamped in a flood of emotions whenever i recall His love for me. a mixture of joy (that He loves me), relief (that He still loves me after many episodes of disappointing him), a microscopic bit of pain (for what He'd allowed to happen which I've come to accept by now) and excitement (of what He has planned for me).

the tears started flowing out again and my goodness, i'm in the office.

why is God not disgusted with me?
my sins aside, i don't think i have shown him the love and gratitude that He so fully deserves.
and once again He has proven to me that it is never about me and what i did, do or will do - it's about His love and mercy.

all grades are out and despite a repeat of last semester's mugging attitude (a major lack of), albeit to a lesser extent, He has blessed me with unbelievable results. despite taking more than normal modules, despite having to organize the case challenge, despite not knowing what i was studying (this is for real) and despite my nonchalant attitude - higher GPA than last semester. and once again i'm reminded that it is He who has the power, who has showered me with blessings which i really really do not deserve...

oh please let me love You Lord.
in that passionate way where i'll be thinking about You, Your Words and Your everflowing mercy and grace every single moment.
in that consuming way where i know that i wouldn't be able to live without You.
let the trip to India be the time where i can really build a closer and more intimate relationship with You.

i don't think i've been trying hard enough. i get distracted - i let other things take priority, i let other things control my thoughts and actions.

on a random note - over dinner tonight, my mom remarked about my extremely vivid memory of certain events in the past. i can easily recall the incident, the people involved, my thoughts at that point of time and sometimes to even what i wore. she said that people like me do not forgive and forget easily.

after thinking about it - i think it's more of the latter that applies to me. God knows how hard i try. but there have been so many times where random memories of the past creep into my mind. the harder i tried to brush it away, the clearer it became. the place, the props, my emotions and sometimes even down to the fine details of the face - the eyes, the mouth, the chin, the neck and the expressions.

and then i prayed for me to forget, for me to let go. well it's not happening at a pace which i favour. i wonder if i'm doing it the wrong way. do i pray specifically for me to forget so that i would have no recollections or do i just pray for Your will?

please guide me the Holy Spirit.
please show me the way...
for me to break away from any bondage in my life.
